On the hot plains of the Baixo Alentejo, just a few kilometres from the city of Beja, is one of the oldest wine estates in the region. Its vineyards represent decades of history that Henrique Uva has preserved & farmed for many years & which he always wanted to develop as an independent producer.
In 2004, he achieved his dream, with the project that goes by the name of Henrique Uva/Herdade da Mingorra. The winery is surrounded by a landscape that that is abundant, with an amazing diversity of plants & fauna, with several river basins forming veritable oasis. Built in the heart of Herdade da Mingorra, the 2,000m2 Winery only vinifies the estate’s own grapes & works with vinification processes at various levels. In total, more than two & a half million euros have been invested & the Winery has been designed to preserve traditional techniques in perfect harmony with the highest technology.
The estate covers a total of 1,400 hectares, with three properties: Herdade da Mingorra, Sociedade Agrícola do Barrinho & Herdade dos Pelados. As well as 135 hectares of vineyards, it has 210 hectares of irrigated olive groves, 200 hectares of intensively farmed almond groves, while the remainder is under traditional crops & woodland.
Imaginem is the most sustainable wine from Mingorra that is made only in special years, the last time was 2011 & we don’t know when the next will be! Certified by the Norwegian institute for sustainability, this wine has one of the lowest carbon footprints from its bottle to its plantable label.
Light, cold maceration on the skins. Traditional fermentation in wine press at a controlled temperature on 26C. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels.
Imaginam has a light, brighter brown colour that gives away the age of this wine. It presents a lovely nose of ripe fruit like damson & blackberry with some warm spices & earth. Pure & indulgent on the palate with tertiary notes of mushrooms, nutmeg & liquorice combined with the freshness of coriander and ripe red fruit. Elegant subtle tannins & mature fruit all the way leaving a long, delicious balanced flavour on your palate.
Pairs well with rich dishes such as mushroom ragu, red meat & duck.
