Showdown 'The Bird' Malbec

Boutinot has been working with growers in California for over 10 years, finessing their offering from vintage to vintage, increasingly with specific estates sourcing old vine material and site-specific fruit.

The current range of wines are sourced from the warm region of Lodi in Central California, to which Samantha Bailey brings her esteemed palate and decades experience to hone these elements into the brightest wines of The Sunshine State.

California, a wildcard for Malbec? Not when the game is played in the sun-kissed vineyards of the Central Valley - the perfect growing environment.

Vineyards

Grapes are sourced from the northern end of California's long central valley. Malbec here benefits from the cooling influence of San Francisco Bay so grapes retain freshness.

Vinification

After fermentation 70% of the Malbec is aged on oak for four months giving good integration and subtle oak characteristics.

Tasting Notes

Juicy and full bodied, with plenty of blackcurrant and blueberry fruit, velvety tannins and great freshness.

Great with rich and hearty food such as a casserole or veggie chili con carne.
