Emilio Lustau was established in 1896 and was initially a small family concern until the founder`s son-in-law placed it on a business footing.
The firm is perhaps best known as pioneering the Almacenista system, whereby individual dry sherries are produced from small private holdings. These are bottled under Lustau`s name but with the individual bodega's name on the label as well. Today they are amongst the most sought-out Sherries in the region.
Bodegas Lustau gets back the local tradition of producing vermouth with a Sherry base. Produced from a careful selection of Lustau Sherry wines, botanicals and fragrant plants. The Rojo has a base of sherry with a selection of herbs and fruit like gentian, sage, angelica, wormwood, coriander and orange peel to give it a full-bodied flavour profile.
Tasting Notes
Mahogany in colour with reddish glints. Sweet aromas of ripe fruit are laced with citric and herbal notes over a smoky wood background. In the palate it is velvety, flavourful and balanced. Bitter finish delicately accompanied by a distinctive nutty aftertaste.
