1701 is a Franciacorta wine production company run by a team of young and creative people who love the, Bio-dynamic and, Organic wine making methods.
On the top of Santa Giulia hill, beside the cluniac church of the same name, the glorious eighteenth century villa Palazzo Cazzago is home to their winery. The villa is part of ancient land belonging to the noble families Bettoni and Cazzago. The land includes approximately 15 hectares of hillside in Cazzago San Martino, Franciacorta.
1701 Franciacorta is a 10 ha, Organic certified winery that has recently received Demeter certification, the first and only certified, Bio-dynamic producer in the Franciacorta region. As members of Renaissance des Appellations, they follow, Bio-dynamic farming methods - an approach which excludes any chemical intervention. It is ultimately a philosophy of life, about working closely with the vine, understanding and respecting its life cycle until the point when bottled it can fully express its vitality and character and above all the authenticity of its terroir.
From their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards, they produce Franciacorta Brut, Satén and Rosé and a Vintage Dosaggio Zero in exceptional years.
The land includes approximately 15 hectares of organically & biodynamically farmed hillside in Cazzago San Martino, Franciacorta. Grapes are hand harvested and whole bunches.
Fermentation at controlled temperature (16-18 degrees) using, Organic beet sugar for second fermentation. No other additives used.
1701 Franciacorta Brut is the perfect union between the structural elegance of Chardonnay and the character of Pinot Nero. It has a lovely racy, zippy lemon fruit, with a touch of crunchy apples, a light persistent mousse, and a deliciously creamy close. All in all, delightful and classy.
