Berry's Brothers and Rudd was founded in 1698, making it one of the oldest wine merchants in the world. BBR also produce their own liqueurs (The Kings Ginger Liqueur being one of the most popular) and release lots of wonderful whiskies and rums as an independent bottler.

2008 #8 Single Cask Clarendon Estate

A relatively you Jamaican Distillery, Clarenton was established in 1949. Utilising both column and pot stills, the distillery produces a range of marques used in the production of world-renowned brands such as Monymusk. This particular rum is from a high ester marque and oozes over ripe fruit.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich & honeyed, smoky and with hints of diesel, banana and vanilla. As rich as you would expect from a Jamaican rum, this oozes class. This is largely due to the restraining fruits controlling the stronger elements and it being drawn from the cask in its prime.

Palate: It takes a while for the alcohols to dissipate but the balance of flavours integrate to give a lasting, rich and memorable taste.

Finish: The finish lingers with the prevalent diesel and banana notes still bound in honey. The final impression leaves me with memories of sandy beaches in the sunshine. This is a very pleasing rum.
