Founded in 2006 by a dynamic team of wine industry veterans who were determined to rock the wine world. The vision was to make the best California Cabernet under $20. Armed with a belief that wine should be fun, uninhibited and approachable, they set out to share a splash of Cannonball Cabernet in every glass.
By 2010, Cannonball Cabernet had established a solid reputation in the under $20 category and was receiving lots of love from consumers, restaurants, and retailers. They all wanted more, so the line was extended. The first varietal was Chardonnay, followed by Merlot, and then Sauvignon Blanc.
As our firstborn, Cannonball Cabernet remains our flagship wine.
The beloved flavours of Cannonball are sourced from select regions throughout California. The diverse California microclimates, topography and soils provide the perfect palette to create wines that are complex and highly consistent.
Today, Healdsburg, California based Cannonball is present in 47 United States and 30 international markets.
Whole cluster press followed by a cold soak for 36 to 48 hours. 75% undergoes tank ferment and the remaining 25% is fermented in a mixture of new and old barrel. Half of the blend spent nine months in French Oak, while the other 50% spent eleven months in American Oak.
One is immediately struck with complex and racy notes: aromas of light pineapple, sweet spice, vanilla, honeysuckle and minerality. The taste has a full entry and continues with delicate melon and citrus flavours. The finish is long and bright with a smooth texture and delicate flavours.
Pair with roast chicken, fresh seafood, and light pasta dishes. Also perfect as an aperitif!
