Chateau des Ferrages is located in Pourcieux, halfway between Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Maximin, in the prime plots of the Sainte-Victoire appellation. The coolness of the weather is one of its blessings. Whilst rose wine was already being made at this 8ha Domaine, hillside plots were quickly identified to produce red wine, and others for white.
The range includes two Selection Parcellaire (single vineyard selection) wines that are produced under biodynamic farming principles.
Vineyards
Clay-limestone soils with varying amounts of sand. Shallow, well-draining soil. Parcels located in the villages of Pourcieux and Pourrieres at the feet of Mount Aurelien and Mount Sainte-Victoire. Mediterranean climate
Vinification
Harvest is carried out by machine at night to preserve freshness and aromas. The grapes then go into stainless steel vats. After a long maceration, the wine is aged in vats for several months.
Tasting Notes
The wine has fragrances of red fruit with notes of blackberries, blackcurrants and cherries. The palate is riche, subtle and elegant, it remains supple and easy to drink.
Great with casseroles and stews along with many styles of cheese.
