In 1879 C.V.N.E. was founded by Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa in Rioja. 140 years later C.V.N.E. is still controlled by the descendants of the founders.
C.V.N.E. has a clear philosophy of a constant quest for quality, the respect for tradition and the commitment to innovate. They are great believers in the importance of viticulture, farming nearly half of their Rioja red grape needs. The remainder is purchased from long-term growers in Rioja.
In 2006 C.V.N.E. initiated a bold experiment, planting double the density of vines per hectare in order to reduce the yield and increase quality.
C.V.N.E. has established an environmental policy which covers many aspects of their wine production and associated activities. They were the first wine company in Spain to achieve the double Environmental Footprint (Carbon and Water). This double Footprint helps to verify the greenhouse gas emissions as well as the direct and indirect consumption of water.
Vineyards
This wine is made from Tempranillo grapes from various plots in Rioja Alavesa.
Vinification
Grapes were hand harvested and whole bunches were put into stainless steel tanks, where, at controlled temperatures, carbonic maceration took place. This is a traditional winemaking technique in Rioja Alavesa. This results in wines with marked character and personality: fresh and light bodied, fruity and flavourful.
Tasting Notes
This wine has great aromatic intensity with classic aromas of fresh strawberries, blackberries, wild berries and floral notes. On the palate there is marked sweet berry flavours with grippy tannins, leading to a long and fruity finish.
Great with sausages, casseroles, stews, pizza and grilled red meats.
