As well as initial acquisitions in Beaune, Pommard, Monthélie and Meursault, in 2012, the estate purchased established plots in Puligny, Chassagne, and again in Meursault to meet the demand for its white wines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe success of this 15-hectare estate in the heart of Burgundy is down to the hard work and talent of its founder, Brigitte Berthelemot, together with her estate manager and winemaker, Marc Cugney. The vines are planted in limestone soils in very good sites at a density of around 10,000 per hectare, they are kept in top condition, and the team responds quickly to regular analyses of the soil and the vines in order to assess appropriate cultivation methods using the bare minimum of herbicides and other artificial, chemical intervention.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlthough each harvest differs in regards to the degree of maturity and the levels of sugar, acidity and tannins within the grapes, the goal is always to produce the best wine possible reflecting the nature of the land and the characteristics of the year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBrigitte's son Thomas Berthelemot joined the estate in 2017, giving a new lease of life into the Domaine!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs well as the Agriculture Raisonnée certification awarded in 2009, the Domaine is committed to the specifications of the HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) programme and it attained Level 3 in 2015. In 2018, Berthelemot started conversion to organic agriculture and from the 2021 vintage onwards wines will be certified organic.x\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor Domaine Berthelemot, major factors in their commitment to environmental conservation include arming the vine against insects and ensuring the must during vinification can be well stabilised. This is done through using natural and biodynamic substances in the field, and consideration of the effects of the moon are also deliberated. Infusions are used to help the vines become resistant to different diseases such as fungus attacks, plus frost or hail, which is also helped by reducing the quantity of copper and sulphite used in the vineyard.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eProduction\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMade with 40% whole bunch ferment, from vines in both the Noizons and Petit Noizons plots planted between 1924 and 1997. The soil is reddish brown limestone with some ferrous oxide, which provides rich, aromatic wines that age well.
