Domaine Du Tunnel Stephane Robert Saint Peray Cuvee Prestige

A rising star amongst world class Rhone producers, Stephane Robert has produced wines that have caught the eye of many wine critics. Stephane started his domaine by renting vines in 1994 with his wife Sandrine, at the young age of 24. Now he has ten hectares of his own vines, in Cornas, Saint Peray and Saint Joseph. The wines he creates here are characterised by fruit intensity, rather than oak, and particularly expressive of their terroir.

The domain works according to sustainable and ecological principles.

Vineyards

In Saint Peray, exclusively white wines based on Marsanne and Roussanne are produced on vines with an average age of over 40 years.

80% Marsanne 20% Roussanne

Tasting Notes

A grippy and savoury wine from one of the masters of white wine in the region. It comes from the vines planted above the winery (an old railway tunnel that burrows through the hillside). It has drive, pithy texture, and a mouth watering finish. It is an amazingly complex wine for the price, with notes of tropical fruits, peach, and yoghurt.

This wine would be fantastic paired with sushi, trout or roasted monk fish.
