Don Q is produced at the Serralles Distillery, a pioneer among spirits producers when it comes to clean, environmentally conscious business practices. They have invested millions of dollars and significant time and brainpower in the creation and implementation of their distillery's waste treatment system. Connecting a series of self-contained processes into an innovative cycle of waste treatment and energy harvest.
All the Don Q Rums are produced sustainably, using a unique starter culture of yeast. The rums are distilled in some of the rum industry's most efficient column stills, producing a light, yet complex and creamy spirit. Post aging Don Q do not add any sugar to their rums, any sweetness comes from the casks alone.
DON Q GRAN ANEJO
Aging mellows a spirit. It also brings out new flavours and aromas. The Gran Anejo contains rums aged between 6 and 12 years, and Solera rums aged up to 50 years, creating a balance between sweet and dry that you won't get in other spirits. Drink it on the rocks, drink it neat.
Nose: Huge, indulgent waves of molasses, barrel char, vanilla and raisin. A touch of tobacco gives it a vegetal edge.
Palate: Fruit starts to appear more readily on the palate - less tropical fruits than their other expressions though. More cigar box too.
Finish: Drying though rich in vanilla.
