Maison Les Alexandrins is the newly renamed collaboration between Nicolas Jaboulet, formerly of the eponymous winery in Tain, winemaker Guillaume Sorrel and viticulturalist Alexandre Caso. Each person brings their expertise to this micro-negociant, an extension of Domaine Les Alexandrins, established in 2015. The aim of Maison Les Alexandrins remains the same: to buy parcels of fruit from some of the top growers in each appellation in the Northern Rhone. Following the construction of a new winery in Tain-l'Hermitage in 2019, Maison and Domaine Les Alexandrins is now a permanent fixture in the Northern Rhone.
Vineyards
The viognier vines are planted in the mountainous part of the Coteaux de l'rdeche. Located to the west of the Rhone Valley, the Coteaux de l'Ardeche is known for its long, hot growing season. The altitude here ensure that the grapes ripen slowly and retain excellent, refreshing levels of acidity.
Vinification
Fermentation and ageing took place in stainless-steel tanks at low temperatures, in order to preserve the freshness and aromatics of the wine. The Viognier was bottled during early spring 2019.
Tasting Notes
This viognier is an attractive yellow gold in the glass. The nose is rich, with notes of pineapple, peach and apricot. On the palate, lively and concentrated fruit is balanced with a beautiful freshness and lifted acidity.
