Since St. George Spirits was founded in 1982, they have grown from a dedicated eau de vie distillery into a diverse operation that makes a range of craft spirits.
Then: a bare-bones production facility with tasting tables jerry-rigged on sawhorses.
Now: a 65,000-square-foot hangar with a spectacular tasting room, laboratory, and a line-up of the most beautiful copper stills in the industry.
An ode to the wild beauty of the Golden State. Forest-driven and earthy, Terroir is a profoundly aromatic gin with a real sense of place. St. George wanted to make a spirit that conveyed the distillers love of the monumental groves of trees, moist and misty glens, and sun-baked chaparral of their favourite local parklands. The result is a very clean fresh American gin, its botanical selection of Douglas Fir, Coastal sage and Californian bay laurel gives it a magical nose that makes you really feel like you're stood in a Californian forest (with no chance of a grizzly sneaking up on you as an added bonus! Unless you kinda like Grizzlys like we do).
12 total botanicals including juniper berries, Douglas fir, California bay laurel, coastal sage, roasted coriander seeds.
Nose: Aromas of nature, a forest to be precise, like being surrounded by Douglas firs and woodsy herbal aromas.
Palate: The palate is fresh, with more fir, pine and bay laurel alongside the coastal sage. Well-structured and moreish.
Finish: Evocative and very long finish with citrus and lingering herbaceous notes.
Martini cocktail. Light tonic garnished with fresh fennel and bay leaf (can be substituted for sage).
