With almost 200 years of history, it's no surprise that Tanqueray is one of the world's best selling gins.
Today Tanqueray is made at Cameronbridge distillery near Edinburgh, but its origins, like so many gins, began in London. Charles Tanqueray set up his Vine Street Distillery in 1830 in the Bloomsbury area of London, which was noted for the quality of its water. The distillery was passed to Charles"„¢ son in 1868, and 30 years later, the distillery moved to nearby Clerkenwell. Tanqueray was based in London all the way up to World War II, when the site was virtually destroyed. Just one still (ËœOld Tom") survived, and it now resides in Cameronbridge.
The flagship gin from Tanqueray has a solid juniper content and classic character. A great all-rounder, from G&Ts to Martinis this is a staple for any gin lover's drinks cabinet and one of the bestselling gins in the world for a good reason.
