Bitters are the unsung and somewhat forgotten heroes of the cocktail world, though The Bitter Truth is on a mission to unveil their potential, and has been since 2006.
The German brand was founded by Munich bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck when they couldn’t find any good quality cocktail bitters, so decided to make their own using their experience from behind the bar. It also helped that Berg happened to own a pretty extensive collection of current and historical bitters, some which weren’t even produced anymore and hadn’t been for decades. Their primary aim was to bring back bitters that were key to certain cocktails, which couldn’t be made anymore as the specific bitter could no longer be found. The Bitter Truth now boasts an insanely extensive portfolio of almost every bitter you could think of, plus a few liqueurs on the side.
