Thierry is the third generation of his family to work their vineyards, his passions are for the vineyard, for nature, for cultivating plants, especially the vines, for making wine and sharing it with friends around good tables and conviviality.
This is a small organic estate of a dozen hectares in the beautiful countryside of the high Languedoc to the north of Beziers growing grape varieties typical of the Saint-Chinian area.
Vineyards
Twelve hectares of vines planted on large terraces of brown schist. The environment is a circus of small mountains covered with holm oaks, arbutus, heather, cistus and rosemary & thyme. The landscape is a jewel of upper Languedoc.
The culture of the vineyard is to care for and respect the ground, the natural cycles and the seasons. No chemicals are used on the vines; they rely on simply composted, natural preparations and plant infusions. Harvesting is carried out manually by just 7 people. Thierry Navarre is a man with a passion for producing wines with minimal intervention.
Vinification
Once destemmed, the grapes are fermented in cement before ageing in a 8,000-litre wooden foudre for twelve months.
Tasting Notes
This is a wine that truly expresses its terroir, this is a blend of very old Carignan vines with Grenache and Syrah. Grown on brown shale and schist soils from mountainsides in the south of France, bounteous with garrigue. Warm fruit notes, black plum, cherry, hints of herbs, thyme and rosemary. A hot year gives a lush ripeness but the result is still juicy and fresh, twelve months in oak foudre brings a lovely roundedness and accentuates the spice, great value!
