Abruzzese cantina, Passione Natura, work with biodynamic grapes and employ traditional winemaking methods to create honest, regional wines. Intervention is minimal, pesticides are never used and sulphur only sparingly at bottling. The aim of the project is to shine a light on the fantastic wines of Abruzzo, offering great quality natural wines at affordable prices.
Vineyards
Biodynamic practices. Vines trained, pergola Abruzzese.
Most of the grapes come from the hillside where the microclimate is moderately continental. Some grapes are sourced from growers in the foothills where the climate is cooler. At least two terroirs live in this wine. The typical south coastal terroir with clay soils and the warm summers, and the mountain terroir with the sandy soil and cooler climatic influence.
Vinification
Manual harvest. Fruit kept in whole bunches. Fermentation in stainless steel, with indigenous yeasts. Maturation in stainless steel tanks. Wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation. Wine filtered (+ 3 micron). The wine undergoes fining (suitable for vegans). Sulphur use is minimal and only before bottling.
Tasting Notes
Ruby in hue, the nose is abundant with red berries, the juicy palate follows with cherries and redcurrants.
Great with barbecued meats, tomato-based pasta dishes, or cheese.
