Whittaker's is a family business run by Jane & Toby Whittaker from Harewell House Farm in the heart of Nidderdale in North Yorkshire.
In the summer of 2018, Toby & Jane embarked on expanding their capacity and decided to build a new distillery building so they could welcome the public through their doors so they could join them on our journey and new projects. The first one being making Whisky, keep an eye out for a very special, limited edition batch coming soon.
Their aim is to produce an artisan small batch, handcrafted spirit which reflects the Yorkshire countryside in a bottle.
Whittaker’s have named their vodka ‘Barley Mow’ as the “The Barley Mow” is a song celebrated in the traditions of the folk music of Ireland, England and Scotland. “The Barley Mow” has become a drinking song sung while comrades empty their glasses.
The vodka is 42% ABV and is made from Yorkshire Barley. The barley through the brewing process but without adding any hops. It is then fermented for 5 days before being distilled through a 21 plate rectification column to produce this truly delicious Vodka.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Hints of porridge, earthy grain and subtle spice.
Palate: Oaty, earthy, whisky notes on the palette. It has a warm and spicy taste.
Finish: Long, warm, lingering after taste.
