Founded in 1995, Calmel & Joseph is a maison de nÃ©goce specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon wines from private wineries from across the region. Over the years, they have built close personal relationships with a large number of growers from all appellations. Convinced of the extraordinary potential of this region, oenologist, Laurent Calmel, and Jerome Joseph work together on the vinification, blending and ageing of wines with the common purpose of demonstrating the little known yet unique quality of these Mediterranean terroirs. As well as their desire to produce high quality wines consistent with their terroirs, they are committed to making wines which reflect their convictions and experience.
Limestone clay. The climate is Mediterranean with continental influences typical of the Limoux terroir for our Malbec and Mediterranean closer to the coast for Petit Verdot.
60% Petit Verdot, 40% Malbec
Traditional vinification, with total destemming and partial crushing at 40%. Small pumping over of 10 minutes is carried out daily with a fermentation temperature between 25 and 28 Â° C. Total vatting is 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in settled wine.
The wine is aged in barrels for 2 years for 3 months.
The colour is brilliant, of a deep and intense purple red. The aromas are powerful, with a very expressive exotic fruitiness coming from Petit Verdot and a spicy bouquet typical of Malbec. This mixture of ripe fruit, spices, these notes of roasting make this wine a pure indulgence. In the mouth we are seduced by this beautiful roundness and its beautiful balance. Exotic flavours such as pomegranate, hints of violets but also liquorice, plum and blond tobacco play their part. It is a very seductive and atypical blend of our region.
