Producer Information

Aphros is perfectly situated on exceptional soil and gently sloping south-facing hillsides within the Vinhao Verde area. The sun exposure is ideal and is balanced with the cooling Atlantic breezes. This combination produces wines with lovely acidity and minerality.

The 20 hectare estate is rich in biodiversity, which is key for healthy vines. Here you’ll find forests with species of acacia, oak, beech, pine and eucalyptus, chestnuts orchards and a park of century old monumental trees. They farm biodynamically and use 60 clay amphorae lined with beeswax for their fermentations.

Vasco Croft has run the winery since 2004. He is a lifelong student of Rudolf Steiner and a passionate exponent of biodynamic viticulture. The winery has developed from modest beginnings in 2004 to being one of the most important in the region with an expansion of the vineyard area, new cellars and now visitor and arts centre.

The wines remain the same, authentic, interesting and delicious.

Loureiro,

Production

Aphros Maresia (sometimes called Pura Maresia) is a biodynamic, low-intervention white Vinho Verde from northern Portugal, crafted by the renowned producer Aphros Wine (Vasco Croft). Made from 100% Loureiro grapes, it is named after maresia—the salty Atlantic sea spray—reflecting the wine's characteristic salinity, bright citrus, and lively, low-ABV spritz.

Tasting Notes

This wine has refreshing flavours of lemon curd, honeydew melon and a lingering salinity on the finish.

This is the perfect wine to accompany your sardine fix.
