Producer Information

Created in 1986 ZINIO Bodegas was established as a cooperative by 200 viticulturalists who made their land available to the winery.

Positioned in the heart of the Rioja Alta , in the Najerilla valley; the vineyard is surrounded by mountains both to the north by Sierra Cantabria and to the south by Sierra de la Demanda. In addition, the Ebro river to the north and its tributaries the Najerilla river to the west and the Yalde to the south; that exert a strong influence on the character of our vineyards, which extends to over 450 hectares around the winery.

The winemaking team is lead by Carmelo Cámara. Their core belief is that wine is made in the vineyard, and this belief drives everything they do. Cámara's addition to this winery represents a significant step in the pursuit of excellence and innovation in wine production.

Production

Grown on own vineyards on argilo-calcareous soils.

Destemmed, pre-fermentative maceration for 24 to 48 hours and fermentation at 25ºC, with gentle extraction of tannins and aromatic compounds. Ageing: 36 months divided between American oak barrels and rest in the bottle.

Tasting Notes

Cherry red in colour with garnet reflections, clean and bright. Marked classic notes of ageing in American oak with a balance between fruit (cherries, black plums, ripe blackberries) and wood (cloves, pepper, vanilla and coconut). Soft and silky on the palate with a permanent, long full flavoured finish.
