When Nick and Trudy started Clandestine Vineyards, it was a moment of absolute clarity for them both. They were chasing a shared dream. Nick had 30 years of experience in the wine game, which was a huge asset to Trudy and to their business. But she also wanted to break free and express herself on her terms.

Cabernt Franc,

This, the third vintage of the Nouveau Cabernet Franc sees a change from Margaret River to the Albany region in Western Australia’s southwest – but remains a single vineyard wine. The much cooler site provides an extended hang-time on the vine, resulting in a longer ripening period and greater intensity of varietal aromatics flavour and natural acidity.

Like all Nouveau styles, the fresher the better – the grapes are picked at optimum ripeness, crushed and hand-plunged on skins for seven days, then cold pressed to preserve the bright aromatics and colour. Only free run juice is racked into stainless steel where the magic of spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurs and SHAZAM! the wine is ready to be bottled!

The result is spectacular – vibrant bright purple in colour, the wine itself is like crushing fresh cherries in your hands and drinking the juice! Trudy suggests chilling the bottle to experience the full spectrum of summer in the glass while soaking up those golden rays…
