When Nick and Trudy started Clandestine Vineyards, it was a moment of absolute clarity for them both. They were chasing a shared dream. Nick had 30 years of experience in the wine game, which was a huge asset to Trudy and to their business. But she also wanted to break free and express herself on her terms.

“I wanted to broaden our horizon to include the natural wine market. I wanted to showcase grapes with no intervention, to hero a true expression of their essence. Shiraz, Pinot Noir

Two single vineyards – Hayview Mount Barker Shiraz and Celestial Bay Margaret River Malbec form a harmonious and delicious blend in the second red from Break Free Wines.

Taking a little inspiration from Hendrix, Little Wing combines cool, lush and spicy Shiraz with some extra flesh provided by a small addition of Malbec. With no further additions, the wine is matured in older, French oak barriques for just one year. Like all Break Free wines, there is no filtration or fining and minimal sulphur on bottling to keep the wine fresh and lively.

Medium-bodied, intensely flavoured wine of violets, spice, coffee, dark chocolate and a full spectrum of red and purple fruits – cherry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and plums – lifting to the reverb of a 1968 white Fender Stratocaster…a lick of oak and a soft, gentle finish.
