Rob and Jo, two Leeds locals, first went to Argentina in 2011 and immediately fell in love with the country. Owning a vineyard wasn’t ever in their sights when the first went over but as they traveled and grew their love wine, their desire to make wine grew. They now have an acre of vineyard that lies in the Uco Valley at the base of the Andes. The name Cada Nube means ‘every cloud’.

Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot

The vineyard lies at an altitude of 1100m above sea level, which provides a cooling factor against the heat of the day. In Los Chacayes the maximum temperatures during the summer months easily exceed 30ºC and go down to 5ºC during the night. However, with low cloudiness and extremely strong evaporation, rainfall reaches an annual average of 320mm. The soils are made up of around 40-50% rocks with remaining volume composed of coarse particles of sand and silt. The 2021 growing season produced near perfect growing conditions, delivering healthy grapes with a good balance of fruit ripeness and acidity.

60% Cabernet Franc, 25% Malbec, 13% Merlot, Petit Verdot 2%

The 2021 harvest was notable for a series of out of the ordinary weather events. Budbreak was accompanied by a perfectly dry, warm spring but a late frost in October was recorded reducing yields but not in quality. In February 2021 and for part of March intense rains were experienced but the vines were able to recover enjoying sunny days with a wide temperature range between day and night through the entire second half of March and all of April leading to high quality and great polyphenolic maturity.

Darker fruit aromas (plum and blackberry) than our Cabernet Franc with the Malbec also bringing floral notes and the Petit Verdot adding a bit of spice. Smooth, integrated tannins and a long finish.

This is a great match for porky or sheepy dishes alike! Slap on some salsa verde and you are good to go.
