Founded in 1995, Calmel & Joseph is a maison de negoce specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon wines from private wineries from across the region. Over the years, they have built close personal relationships with a large number of growers from all appellations. Convinced of the extraordinary potential of this region, oenologist, Laurent Calmel, and Jerome Joseph work together on the vinification, blending and ageing of wines with the common purpose of demonstrating the little known yet unique quality of these Mediterranean terroirs. As well as their desire to produce high quality wines consistent with their terroirs, they are committed to making wines which reflect their convictions and experience.

30% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 20% Carignan, 10% Cinsault.

A few short pumping overs at 25°C were sufficient to extract the elements sought. After four weeks of gentle vatting and 6 months of aging in concrete vats, the wine was ready to be bottled.

Deep red colour. The nose is fine and delicate with grilled and spicy notes. Then, the aromas become more complex with peaty, truffle and undergrowth notes. On the palate, there is a tense, fresh and well-balanced attack on expressions of black fruits such as blackberries and plums. The fine and velvety tannins bring a very pleasant chalky side. The finish is long, ample and spicy. Beautifully crafted, its strong identity makes this wine a rare wine with good aging potential.
