Producer Information

Leading winery in the Dão region founded in 1990. Excellent value for money & known as a brand related to high quality wines in Portugal. They are from the iconic region of Dão in northern Portugal which is known for its magnificent mountains (Estrela, Caramulo & Bussaco) & the unique microclimate that is in symbiosis with its indigenous grape varieties. Production

Alto dos Amores - one of the most extraordinary landscape of the Dão - has always been the meeting point of couples in love in the Vila de Santar. If, once, the magic of this landscape served to conquer hearts, today, the grapes that are born there, serve to conquer the most demanding taste of wine lovers. It is this love story that serves, daily, as inspiration to all those who work to produce this monocaste of Encruzado of the Casa de Santar.

Crushing with smooth, pneumatic pressing, prolonged maceration on the grape skins, alcoholic fermentation at 26ºC.

Aged 18 months in French Oak barrels and a further 6 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes

Intense and complex, the fruits of the forest, very ripe red fruits and their jelly are notorious. It also has floral notes and notes of spices. Fruity, soft, well-structured and with notorious final persistence.

Ideal to accompaniment to matured cheeses and structured  red meat dishes such as Moroccan Lamb or Turkish style food. Great with a pure old fashioned roast beef! Serve at 18ºC
