Producer Information

Charles and Mireille Greuzard moved from Burgundy to the Languedoc, “the new El dorado” of wine in the 80’s. In 2001 they bought Domaine de L’ Herbe Sainte, the focus of their attentions ever since. Their daughter Christelle now plays an important role.

The reds of Chateau/Domaine de L’Herbe Sainte have a very full rich fruity style derived from ripe grapes and a determination to keep as much flavour as possible. Minimal filtering means that some wines leave a deposit.

The name Chateau can only be used for Appellation (Minervois) wines. The IGP wines use the Domaine name.

Syrah, Carignan

Production

Carignan, a grape variety native to the South of France, resists the hot temperatures, drought and winds of the region (Tramontane and Mistral).

Coming from the best genetic selections of Syrah, L'Herbe Sainte planted this grape variety on warm pebble terroirs where it expresses itself particularly well.

Tasting Notes

A blend of Syrah and Carignan, the Tradition en Minervois cuvée reveals complex notes of Blackcurrant and Olives.

The combination of Syrah in this cuvée brings fruit, freshness and tension to this Minervois.

Drink with spring lamb, kleftico or spiced aubergine.
