Domaine De Rochebin Pinot Noir Clos St Germain Rouge

Created in 1921, the Rochebin vineyard became solely dedicated to viticulture in 1972. Located in the heart of the Maconnais, in Aze , it operates more than 50 hectares of vines. Two words sum up the philosophy of the domain Rochebin: listening and tradition. The wines offered by the domain Rochebin are wines of pleasure, which develop fruit aromas and evolve in the register of freshness.

Pinot Noir,

On the whole of the domain, the principles of the reasoned fight are applied. All plots are grassed. The Aligoté, Pinot and Gamay vines are pruned Guyot Mâconnaise, while those of Chardonnay are pruned Mâconnaise for better maturity.

The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity, with higher tractors, allowing them to pass through the rows.
The plots of crémant are harvested by hand. All of the Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes are destemmed directly from the vines during the harvest before being transported to the maceration vats.

The aging of the white wines is done in vats with fermentations at low temperature. The Bourgogne Clos Saint Germain spends 12 months in barrels.

With a deep ruby colour, this wine evokes aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cherry. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, giving notes of spices, tobacco and cocoa beans. The palate is a rich and medium-bodied with plenty of fruit and a round, ripe, fleshy finish.

Sai - I recently chugged this Pinot Noir having dinner with a couple of friends. On the menu was steak tartar with an asian twist, homemade prawn toast and garlic and parsley snails. This Pinot Noir was on point for every dish. Its bright red fruits and then that time in oak giving it notes of spices, tobacco and cocoa to stand up against the strong flavours of the food! A very tasty drop and at a fantastic price for a red Burgundy!!
