Erdevik Nopi Djorgri Pinot Grigio

Erdevik Winery is located in the village or Erdevik, in the Western foothills of Alma Mons (Fruska Gora). Surrounded by low hills in Fruska Gora and vast plains to the South. Located 140 meters above sea level, Erdevik, with its three lakes is one of the most beautiful villages in the region of Syrmia (Srem). Vines were first planted here in 276AD during the reign of Roman Emperor Probus.

Pinot Grigio,

They carefully selected location where to plant their vineyards. Breskvik micro-location turned out to have the best terroir (climate and soil influence) in Fruska Gora appellation. Their grapes are ripening in the best possible way getting the sunlight both from the sun and as a reflection of river Danube. During the summer and early winter cool air flows from Fruska Gora forest so grapes achieve appropriate freshness, fruitiness and acidity becoming fully balanced.

Soil is multi-layered full of minerals which provides robustness and complexity in wines. On the surface soil is alluvial with several layers of clay and limestone where plant roots are reaching fossilized segments of shell and coral remained from Pannonian sea sediments.

100% stainless thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. First fermentation: 14-20 days depending on tasting. Malolactic fermentation in barrels: Addition of yeast. Fermentation temperature 20 °C. Daily tasting. Aging: Stainless steel. Duration: 3 months.

Dry and crisp with expressive lemon and apple developing to delicate floral and stone fruit flavours with a well balanced finish.

Pairs well with light pasta or risotto dishes. I challenge you to find a better Northern Italian Pinot Grigio at this price point!

An international varietal of some fame, infamy? We often joke that pinot grigio tastes like wet, not in a completely disparaging sense, sometimes you don’t want a challenging wine, just a cooling drink. The Nopi Djorgri is not a simple chugger that you would be expecting from the vast majority of Northern Italian offerings, here you have a complex yet still refreshing, mineral driven style. Smelling of gala apples and fresh lemon, I challenge you to find a better example from Veneto at the same price point!
