Erdevik Roza Nostra

Erdevik Winery is located in the village or Erdevik, in the Western foothills of Alma Mons (Fruska Gora). Surrounded by low hills in Fruska Gora and vast plains to the South. Located 140 meters above sea level, Erdevik, with its three lakes is one of the most beautiful villages in the region of Syrmia (Srem). Vines were first planted here in 276AD during the reign of Roman Emperor Probus.

Merlot, Shiraz

The Vineyard is located above the village of Krcedin (Breskvik micro-location) at 100 meters above sea level with several grape varieties: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah.

Erevik carefully selected the location on which to plant their vineyards. Breskvik micro-climate turned out to have the best terroir (climate and soil influence) in Fruska Gora appellation. The grapes here are ripening in the best possible way, getting the sunlight both from the sun and from the reflection of the river Danube. During the summer and early winter, cool air flows from the Fruska Gora forest so grapes maintain appropriate freshness and acidity while gaining fruitiness and becoming fully balanced.

The soil is multilayered and full of minerals which provides robustness and complexity in wines. The surface soil is alluvial with several layers of clay and limestone where plant roots are reaching fossilized segments of shell and coral remained from Pannonian sea sediments.

Most of the work in the vineyard is done manually and when the harvest comes we only use the best grapes to make our wines. We learn from tradition, respect the terroir and are making the wines for generations to come.

The rose is a blend of 64% Merlot 64% and 36% Shiraz.

Roza Nostra is everything that great rose should be. Herbal on the nose with nettle and oregano but with a fruity lift. Loaded with flavours – strawberry, cherry, vineyard peach, refreshing citrus and touch of minerality. Roza Nostra has full body, vibrant acidity and perfect precision on the palate.

True gastronomic wine – from fresh oysters, shrimps over grilled octopus and fried quail.

Here is a rose for any lover of Provence. Provence is great and I could happily sit around for an entire afternoon with it, periodically waving my empty glass around and exclaiming “garçon!” Is that rude? I never learned French… Provence’s great strength is in its sheer drinkability, but I would never describe it as interesting. This wine is a great step for a Provence fan who is looking for something new or more complex. This rose is dry, bone dry. Herbal notes of oregano and nettle mingle with the classic Provence flavours of strawberry, peach and stones.
