Famille Ogereau L'Enjouee Vin De France Rouge

A father and his son, Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau, two common passions; the vine and the music.

A family of winegrowers serving chenins for more than 5 generations on the great terroirs of Anjou. Since the end of the 19th century, the Ogereau family has passed on the love of the profession, the precision of gestures, the ability to listen to the vine, an idea of ​​wine, and the desire to always build up know-how. They are part of a history that goes beyond them, that of a thousand-year-old vineyard, the cradle of chenin.

The estate's vines are located in the heart of the Layon hillsides and in Savenière, on either side of the Loire. Singular landscapes, the original terroir of Chenin, which saw the birth and growth of the Ogereau family. Each hillside, each locality has its unique character.

“Enjouee” means playful or joyful, a perfect descriptor for this vibrant, fresh wine. Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau both play the tuba, thus the nod to their preferred instrument on the label.

This cuvee used to be called "L'Anjouee Rouge," when the blend consisted only of Anjou's AOP-allowed varieties. As of the 2019 vintage, this wine is a Vin de France due to the inclusion of other local varieties that are not allowed by the official AOP.

Vines located in Saint Lambert du Lattay, in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon, on schists.

Organic (certified ECOCERT). Guyot Poussard pruning.

40% Grolleau, 30% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Gamay, 10% Pineau d'Aunis.

2/3 of the domaine's harvest was lost during the catastrophic frost on April 13th. The domaine, thus, purchased organic Grolleau and Cabernet Franc from grower friends in the region who were less impacted in order to complete this cuvee. Whole bunch, semi-carbonic maceration for the Gamay and Pineau d'Aunis (6 days). De-stemmed, 6-day infusion for the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grolleau.

The Grolleau expresses itself on a flowery and spicy nose. The Pineau d'Aunis lengthens the finish on the palate with its pepper. The Gamay supports the spices and flowers of the Grolleau. Finally, the Cabernet brings to the whole a fine infused texture and crispy red fruits. The Enjouee rouge is full of pleasure, freshness and delicacy.
