Flavio Fanti La Palazzetta Brunello Di Montalcino

La Palazzetta is a Brunello di Montalcino wine estate located in the Tuscan village of Castelnuovo dell'Abate on the southeastern edge of Montalcino. The estate almost exclusively focuses on Brunello di Montalcino wines produced with the region's most ubiquitous grape variety – Sangiovese. The estate was established by husband-and-wife team Flavio and Carla Fanti.

The estate covers 18 hectares (44 acres) of vineyard, which are cultivated organically. The soils here are composed primarily of galestro (a rock-strewn, schist and clay soil, associated with many top vineyard sites in Tuscany), and are planted to Sangiovese with a small amount of Colorino for the estate's Sant'Antimo wine.

Grapes are harvested by hand and vinified traditionally with the use of Slovenian oak and neutral French oak tonneaux. Unlike many other producers in the region, La Palazzetta doesn't use small oak barriques for fermentation or aging, nor does it use any so-called "international" grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot.

Grapes are grown in the Castelnuovo dell’Abate sub region, 365m above the sea level in limestone soils rich in stone marl.

After a careful selection and harvesting of the grapes, start the alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature and maceration of about 20 days with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Aged 3 and a half years in French oak casks and then a further 6 months in bottle before relsease.

Intense and powerful, rich in aromas, with fruity notes, blackberry and blueberry combined with hints of chocolate. Soft tannins, good acidity, harmonious and elegant.

Drink with forrest mushrooms, lamb shoulder in an anchovy and mushroom crust, game or mature cheeses.
