Isabel Estate is nestled in the heart of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.
The Wairau Valley receives the full benefit of extended sunshine hours combined with a long, relatively cool growing season. Long, brilliantly sunny, mild autumns allow for the development of intense flavours and aromas in the fruit.
Isabel Estate has some of the oldest vines in Marlborough producing exceptional quality grapes and wines including an outstanding Sauvignon Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
clay-rich soils located in the southern border of the estate allow for an intensely concentrated Pinot Noir in flavour combined with a firm structured backbone of elegant and sinewy tannins.
35 per cent new French oak and older seasoned 228-litre oak barriques. During this time in oak, the young wine completed natural malolactic fermentation.
A captivating ruby red in colour matches an aromatic nose that unveils itself with layers of wild flowers, perfumed violets and red cherry notes. Concentrated flavours of black cherry, Kalamata olive and dried herb intertwine with sinewy tannins and judiciously selected French oak to create a long, memorable finish. Attractive in its youth with fruit purity, it will make an equally great sleeper with bottle age developing extra complexity.
