It was Marius Chapoutier (Michel Chapoutier's grandfather) who put the family name firmly on the Rhone Valley map in the early 20th century and established its reputation for quality as far afield as America. A unique destiny and one that was filled with joy; sometimes tragic yet always marked by success.
These wines carry this message and reflect the warmth of the southern France terroirs in which they are rooted. The pleasure of a man who loves to share. An expert knowledge of the Rhone Valley varietals, the secrets of which Michel Chapoutier seeks to reveal. The notion of pleasure, to put it simply.
Vineyards
The Grenaches are grown on clay and limestone soils mainly facing directly East, while the Cinsaults are planted on the plain in predominantly sandy soils.
Vinification
100% pressed rose. The musts under go very little racking in order to develop the wine's volume yet maintain its freshness. Balance is the golden rule. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature for 15 days and then the wine is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel or concrete vats for 3-4 months.
Tasting Notes
Beautiful bright rose petal colour with hints of salmon. Delicate nose of flowers and fruits with a clean entry on the palate, nice acid balance, full body and subtle notes of white-fleshed fruit.
An all-round aperitif wine, ideal to accompany summer salads and barbecues.
