Torres Cordillera Chardonnay

Backed by a history rooted in winemaking culture in Spain, Miguel Torres Chile arrived in the Curica Valley in 1979 after searching for a new location. On this journey, as well as finding excellent climatic conditions, the family has committed to innovating in wine production, incorporating stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels.

Today, Miguel Torres Chile also focuses its commitment on organic vine-growing and Fair Trade certification for various wines. These advances have helped the company to become more sustainable, and to implement several sustainable projects.

Miguel Torres Chile maintains the cornerstone concepts that have marked its history and production chain: Fair Trade, organic farming, and innovation.

The company has worked to recover traditional varieties almost forgotten in Chile, such as Pais, Carignan, and Muscat, using small suppliers from rainfed areas. Cordillera Carignan, Estelado Rose, Reserva de Pueblo, and Dias de Verano are among the products associated with this kind of project.

With a presence in more than 100 countries, the Miguel Torres Chile family winery has established itself over the past 30 years as one of the main producers of high-quality wines through its products identity, respect for the environment, and social responsibility.

In 2010, Miguel Torres Maczassek, from the fifth generation of the Torres Family, took over as company president in Chile, with aims such as increasing exports and ensuring the smooth operation of the winery.

The first estate acquired by Miguel Torres Chile was FUNDO MAQUEHUA (Curica Valley) in 1979. It is home to the production plant and aging cellars.

This 95-hectare estate, with stony land and good drainage, has particularly good conditions for growing red varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Chardonnay,

The vineyard’s location 29 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean means a maritime influence can be felt through the sea breeze that comes in every day, making the area very cool.

The soil is part of an alluvial terrace of the Limarí River. It is a matrix with a clay loam texture, including different sized gravels as well as clay and sand. It has high levels of calcium carbonate, as well as several types of salts, due to the lack of precipitation.

Temperate to warm climate with very cold nights.

Cordillera Chardonnay is a unique, exclusive wine, bred from three excellent types of Chardonnay with different organoleptic characteristics and always originating from the same estates in the Limarí Valley. The grapes are fermented in new French oak and the wine is aged on its lees for nine months.

Fresh, fruity aroma dominated by peach, white plum, and grapefruit notes, with touches of toasted hazelnut. Mineral on the palate, with plenty of volume, elegant acidity and lasting rich fruity aromas, ending with a fresh, pleasant aftertaste.

Perfect with prawns, baked fish or creamy pork dishes.
