RED FRENCH WINE CASE

We have curated two wine cases to supplement our French Season that celebrates the wine of France, to many people the greatest wine making nation on earth.

This case includes:

Rouge Clair by M. Chapoutier
This pale Red comes from Grenache noir and Syrah grapes, carefully selected from the terraces of the Black Mountain foothills. This expression of the two varietals reveals delicate tannins and the aroma of raspberries and small red fruits. The perfect new wine to take you through summer: a red to enjoy chilled or with ice.

Les Piviones Beaujolais-Villages
Juicy, fresh and approachable - just what you want from Beaujolais Villages. Outlawed across the Bourgogne region, Gamay is all about the fresh, exuberant, juicy red fruit with little tannin structure. On the palate, this wine is soft, with vibrant acidity and a mouth-watering floral, morello cherry finish.

Domaine De Rochebin Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Created in 1921, located in the heart of the Maconnais, two words sum up the philosophy of the domain Rochebin: listening and tradition. The Bourgogne Pinot Noir spends 12 months in oak barrels. giving notes of spices, tobacco and cocoa beans. The palate is a rich and medium-bodied with plenty of fruit and a round, ripe, fleshy finish.

Chateau Buisson-Redon Bordeaux
Its nearly 100 years since Louis Sèze acquired the Fronsac estate of Château Mayne-Vieil, one of our top choices! The Sèze family’s newer 30 year old vineyard directly neighbours the Fronsac AOC and is planted with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc which is also the grape split on the blend. This is honest right-bank Bordeaux.


Boutinot Cotes du Rhone Villages Rouge
Boutinot's love affair with the Southern Rhone spans thirty years of making wine in the region. Common practice in the Cotes du Rhone is to bottle the best cuvees as a single, named, village wine and the rest as more basic Cotes du Rhone Villages. Grenache & Syrah are at the forefront here, lovely sweet spice - warm star anise with a touch of cinnamon.

Chateau Pineraie Cahors Malbec
Cahors Malbec is the historic French predecessor to the popular Argentinian red. Cahors has been an established winemaking region for centuries and a Latin manuscript from 1456 shows that the Burc family were already land owners around Cahors at that time. 5th generation vigneron Jean-Luc Burc now shares the running of this 50 hectare estate near Puy-L'Eveque with his daughters, Anne and Emmanuelle.
