Robert Oatley Vineyards is the latest venture of the Oatley family winemaking dynasty, which was founded by the late industry legend Bob Oatley. His legacy continues in his eldest son Sandy, who worked alongside his father for many years and manages the business today.

Created in 2006, Robert Oatley Vineyards aims to embody the best that Australia can produce where classic grape varieties are matched to the leading wine regions of Australia. Along with grapes from the family properties, some dating back to 1858, the Oatley family draw upon select growers of excellence across a diverse range of climatic regions. A deep understanding of viticulture enables the team to identify the best vineyard sites in Australia.

The talented winemaking team is led by Larry Cherubino – one of Australia’s most awarded winemakers.

Production

The average age of vines is 15 years, trained using VSP system, planted on laterite soils.

Hand-harvested in order to select only the best fruits. Fermented using a wide range of yeast and the wine was matured for 15 months in partially new and old French oak barriques.

Tasting Notes

This wine shows a mix of power and austerity in its mélange of red and black fruits, sweet pipe tobacco, flowers, herbs and spices. Fine-grained tannins offer grip to the plush palate, lending focus and balance on the finish.

Matches perfectly with a sirloin or ribeye steak, grilled portobello mushrooms or mature cheddar.
