Spirit of Harrogate was founded in 2014 by Marcus Black and Mike Carthy, who named their gin after William Slingsby, a 16th-century English adventurer who was said to be the one to discover that Harrogate’s Tewit Well water had supposed valuable properties. The town’s spa was the inspiration behind the brand, which aims to celebrate this heritage by working with local suppliers and forging ties with the community.
