Villa Blanche Grenache Rose

Founded in 1995, Calmel & Joseph is a maison de negoce specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon wines from private wineries from across the region. Over the years, they have built close personal relationships with a large number of growers from all appellations. Convinced of the extraordinary potential of this region, oenologist, Laurent Calmel, and Jerome Joseph work together on the vinification, blending and ageing of wines with the common purpose of demonstrating the little known yet unique quality of these Mediterranean terroirs. As well as their desire to produce high quality wines consistent with their terroirs, they are committed to making wines which reflect their convictions and experience.

Grenache, Grenache Gris

Clay-limestone. The climate is typically Mediterranean, mild and sunny with little rainfall. The winters are mild, the summers hot and regular droughts help maintain healthy grapes.

60% Grenache Noir 40% Grenache Gris

The grapes are picked at night in two stages. A first, early harvest at the beginning of August to obtain freshness, followed by a second 15 days to a month later to obtain a more concentrated profile and more varietal, Mediterranean aromas. Total destemming then maceration for 6 hours at 5°C for the first lot of grapes picked, and 2 hours for the second. Fermentation is thermo-regulated at 15°C. Fine lees are added during pre-fermentation racking to give structural complexity to the palate. No malolactic fermentation to preserve the wine’s freshness.

A pretty pale pink with light grey gleams. A floral nose of white flowers and roses, followed by fresh notes of grapefruit, marshmallow, and melon with a finish of passionfruit and white peach. In the mouth it is deliciously luscious, supple, fruity, and refreshing, like biting into a fresh apricot, with citrus, pomegranate and cherry and a touch of spicy white pepper. An absolute delight, but also a true wine that will do honour to any table.

Delicious paired with a classic prawn cocktail. Also great with grilled tuna steak or swordfish. Works well with Hawaiian cuisine, try with your favourite Poke Bowl.
