Benedictine is a French herbal liqueur, produced since the 1800s. Its recipe is secret and heavily guarded, leading to there being many copy cats, many of which have gone on to be successful in their own right.
Nose: Fresh citrus peel, cardamom, cedar wood, nutmeg, sage and mace.
Palate: Silky, honeyed, lightly spiced palate with saffron, ginger, cardamom, cloves and citrus zestiness.
Finish: Warming notes of mocha coffee, fudge, vanilla and pine sap emerge and last through the zesty, saffron and gingerbread finish.
