Once a scientist and an architect, are now the founders of England's most exciting new distillery. In 2014, a desire to leave the rat race led them across the globe to Australia, in search of sun, sand and adventure.
Whilst in Tasmania and researching for a whisky blog for friends back home, they visited all eight operational whisky distilleries at a time when the industry was just taking off. These small producers were carving a path for hand-crafted premium whisky.
Over the last few years they've sourced the finest ingredients and best craftsman, and have worked hard to raise funds through the Founders' Club to help finance the build. At long last the stills are now fired up and spirit is starting to flow.
Establishing a distillery which focuses on flavour and authenticity to bring unique and exceptional spirits to the table has been theirr goal from the outset. It's time to swap mass-produced bland spirit for something more adventurous.
Cooper King Dry Gin is hand distilled, bottled and labelled at the Cooper King Distillery in Yorkshire. To create a gin of exceptional character they're taking an unprecedented approach to distillation, by marrying botanicals with a combination of rich malt spirit and smooth wheat spirit. Honey from their family beehives, beautiful lemongrass and a touch of locally grown lavender are just some of the botanicals used to make this gin.
Uniting state-of-the-art vacuum distillation with a traditional copper pot still in a process that's tailored to suit each individual botanical, creates a gin with the freshest, fullest flavours unlike any other.
1 square metre of native English woodland is planted through our Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust partnership for every bottle of Dry Gin sold, making it the first gin in Europe to join the 1% for the Planet® initiative.
Two Yorkshire forces have teamed up to create Valour Dry Gin - the Cooper King distillery and fashion designer Scott Henshall collaborated to bring the gin to life, and was launched at York Fashion Week 2019.
Powerfully herbaceous, but with enough sweetness from the honey and fleeting citrus notes to keep it brilliantly balanced.
Serve with classic tonic water and a fresh basil leaf.
