El Tequileno Gran Reserva Anejo

The home of El Tequileno is the historic ‘La Guarrena” distillery located in the magical town of Tequila. El Tequileno is exclusively made here and this has not changed since it was founded by Don Jorge Salles Cuervo in 1959.

El Tequileño is one of only 8 brands of tequila that is exclusively made at its own distillery. Recently, the distillery was rated #3 top distillery out of 130 distilleries on tastetequila.com

Agaves are sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, this region is renowned for being the premier growing region for the blue agave where the mineral rich soil produces agave with a naturally higher sugar content.

Sustainability has always been an important focus for El Tequileno since its founding in 1959 with the distillery continually adapting to optimize their process and positively impact local conservation efforts. Currently, 98% of the distilleries waste is converted in to organic compost. This compost is then used as fertilizer for the next generation of agaves. A big effort is also being put into the preservation of local water sources. The master distiller, Tony Salles, is even the president of the local water board.

Production Details

Cooking: Autoclave (high pressure).

Crushing: Roller Mill.

Fermentation: 100% Agave. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

Distillation: Double Distilled.

Still Type: Copper pot.

Ageing: 18 months in American oak and French oak casks.

Water Source: Natural spring water.

Other: No additives.

100% Estate Grown Blue Agave - Aged for a minimum of 18 months in American and French Oak and blended with Extra Añejo for long finish. This is the perfect marriage of El Tequileno's finest Añejos and exclusive Rerserve Extra Añejos giving this tequila great depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Toasted oak, vanilla, cooked agave, caramel, chocolate, nuts, cinnamon.

Palate: Toasted oak, notes of toasted almonds, pepper,and cinnamon.

Finish: Dry with wood tannins and toasted notes.
