Lagg Corriecravie Oloroso Sherry Finish

Lagg Distillery is a new Scotch whisky maker on the Isle of Arran, in Corriecravie.

The distillery has great views of the coast. It uses the island's long history of whisky making. The distillery is modern but keeps the old whisky traditions. It mixes these with new ideas.

Lagg Whisky is known for being very peaty. This gives it a bold, smoky taste. It is complex and balanced. The peat in the malting process adds a smoky flavour. As it ages, the whisky gets flavours from the oak casks. These include notes of the sea, maybe because of the distillery's coastal location.

The maturation process is important at the distillery. The casks and the ageing environment shape the whisky. They use different casks to give the whisky various flavours. This makes the whisky complex and interesting.

Visitors can tour the distillery. They can learn about making whisky, from malting to maturation. Lagg also has a visitor centre and bistro. This lets people learn about whisky's history and future on the Isle of Arran.

Corriecravie Oloroso Sherry Finish

The Corriecravie Edition starts its maturation journey in Bourbon Barrels and is then refined for about six months in Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads, sourced directly from the renowned producer Miguel Martin in Jerez, Spain.

For this edition, Lagg use Concerto malted barley and pure water from thier own borehole. The selected yeast and extended fermentation process helps them achieve the full-bodied flavour that defines this whisky.

This edition boasts a slightly richer taste profile compared to the Kilmory expression, highlighting notes of sweet spiced berries, dark chocolate and hazelnut.

Bottled at 55% ABV, the Corriecravie Edition is crafted without chill filtration and contains no added colour.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of smoked walnut, spiced red berries and burnt chocolate on the nose, leading to notes of toasted oak, peat smoke and blackberry on the palate.
