Stolichnaya (taking its name from "stolitsa" ("capital city")), is a very well-known brand of vodka, which has its roots stretching back to 1901, though no one is really very sure of Stolichnaya's exact date of birth - some say 1944, some say 1946, some say 1948, and there was a trademark patent dated 1938. In 1972, Stolichnaya began to be imported to the United States by Pepsi, who were able to sell their soft drinks in the Soviet Union. Stoli (as it is colloquially known) is produced both in Russia and Latvia - two companies that produce it have disputed the ownership of the brand for years.
Stolichnaya is made using winter wheat and a small amount of rye to add character. The Citros expression is infused with various citrus fruits, particularly lemons and limes. It works really well in a vodka and tonic, or as the base for a Cosmopolitan, in which it brings another dimension of zestiness!
