Alpha Box & Dice Dead Winemakers Society Muscat Semillon

A modern, cutting-edge collection of wines - just look at the labels - from the passionate and slightly bonkers trio of Dylan and Justin Fairweather and winemaker Sam Berketa. AB&D was founded in McLaren Vale in 2008 and is unconventional in its approach; there are no ‘regional, varietal or stylistic’ boundaries, just great wines from great fruit.

The plan is to craft a different wine for every letter of the alphabet - from Apostle (Shiraz-Durif blend) to Zaptung (crown-capped Prosecco). Each wine is unique and has a story and eye-catching label to go with it. A fab collection of wines that a causing quite a buzz in the wine scene.

Semillon, Muscat

Wild/natural yeast, 100% whole bunch fermentation, hand plunged, extended maceration on skins for three weeks, basket pressed by hand for gentle extraction. This is the first white AB&D have done in this style which was inspired by the passing of Stanislao 'Stanko' Radikon, one of the pioneers of the orange/amber wine revolution, in 2016, hence the intials S.R. on the back label. This is a true orange wine – white grapes fermented on their skins – no additions, extended skin contact and ageing in oak for over 18 months in old French barriques. Bottled by hand – unfined and unfiltered.

Dead Winemakers Society is our homage to those visionary individuals that carved their path in the wine industry before us. They were the crazy ones; the wildeyed wine poets that had a deep respect for both the land they farmed and the process of guiding the fruit to bottle in the most thoughtful and composed manner possible.

Deep amber in colour, this Muscat has notes of apricots, passion fruit, ginger and orange marmalade. Chalky with dusty tannins and cutting acidity...liquid gold!

Pair with pork belly, pasta, snapper, prawns and seafood.
