Product Information

Takamaka rum is produced in the Seychelles, on the island of Mahe in the Trois Freres distillery by the D'Offay family. The estate was founded on an old tropical spice plantation site, La Plaine St Andre, by French settlers over 200 years ago.

The distillery has been operating since 2002, and is the first and only commercial rum producer and exporter in the Seychelles. The sugarcane used is grown in four different regions of Mahe by independent farmers, and is then crushed, distilled, aged and blended on site. Takamaka rum is named after a local bay on the island and is the name of local tree.

The Zepis Kreol rum from Takamaka is made with a blend of pot and column distilled molasses rums, macerated with a selection of local spices and pressed with ex-Merlot wood fines. Following that, it's blended with aged rum from the Foursquare Distillery, and given a rest in some very old bourbon casks.

Tasting Notes

Cinnamon, peppercorn, toasted sugar leading into caramel, some rounded oak, and a touch of ripe mango.
