Last October I was lucky enough to visit a few of our favourite producers in North East Italy, an area centred on the City of Verona that I first visited 15 years ago. I was blown away by the way winemakers had changed and developed production in just a decade and a half.
Most of all, I'd forgotten just how good some of the wines from Lugana, Soave, Valpolicella and beyond actually are, and I think they've actually improved over the last few vintages.
So in a moment of pure self-indulgence I've decided to open the stand-out wines in a one-off Venetian adventure for the Wine Club. From traditional method Sparkling (that will give any Champagne a run-for-its-money) to tiny production Amarone, these are some of my favourite wines on all our shelves.

Ferrari Brut, Trento DOC
Pieropan Soave Classico
